FULBRIGHT DISTINGUISHED AWARD IN TEACHING RESEARCH RECIPIENT (FINLAND) 2023-2024
In the Spring of 2024 I will be studying at the University of Eastern Finland in Joensuu. I will be collecting data on the Perception of Teaching as a Profession Among Finnish Youth. I intend to create ready to use lessons for teachers that promote the profession of teaching.

I was honored to be recognized for my work developing the Invitation to Teach program at Hinsdale Central High School. I represented Illinois at the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences Annual Conference highlighting the opportunities the program provides to aspiring teachers.
INVITATION TO TEACH STUDENTS GET A VIEW OF TEACHING IN AN URBAN SCHOOL 2019
I work to facilitate connections and opportunities for students interested in teaching as a profession and the teachers who mentor them. This opportunity allowed current interns as well as one of their mentoring teachers from a suburban district to engage in education in a Chicago Public School.
GLOBAL TEACHERS INSTITUTE SUMMIT, JOHANNESBURG SOUTH AFRICA 2017
I was honored to be chosen as a recipient of the Tom and Judy Casten Family Foundation LEAP Into Africa sponsorship. This opportunity allowed me to interact with students and prospective teachers in Johannesburg and Cape Town. Additionally I presented on creating connections with your students at the AXIS Global Education Summit to aspiring teachers.
CAREER, TECH ED REMAINS RELEVANT GUEST ESSAY
Educating the community I work in about the continued importance of CTE is an important part of my job. I wrote this guest essay in February of 2018 and it was published in the local paper, reaching the majority of the families attending Hinsdale Central. Creating opportunities to educate and communicate with parents and community members is vital in ensuring the continuation of CTE offerings.
FAMILY, CAREER, AND COMMUNITY LEADERS OF AMERICA
The Hinsdale chapter of the Infant Welfare League asked my students to create a dress out of candy to be featured during an upcoming fundraising event. After the event, the students' creation was auctioned off and featured in a local magazine as well as a window display in a local business.
TEACHING LESSONS OF GIVING
Volunteer work provides opportunities for students to see the impact of their work in the Chicago area. My volunteer work provides opportunities for me to make connections for my students and provide experiences that impact their sense of social responsibility long after they leave my classroom.

This article provides student commentary on the benefits of the teaching internship they are enrolled in. The benefits of this course are realized, not only for those who choose to become teachers, but also for those whom determine teaching is not the right career path for them.

This article focuses on the experience of Invitation to Teach students when they volunteered for a day at a Chicago Public school that recently became a turnaround school operated by the Academy for Urban School Leadership.

VOLUNTEERS LEND A HELPING HAND OVER BREAK
In March of 2011 I organized a trip for several fellow teachers to volunteer in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina. This would lead to many additional volunteer trips in the future.
MEDIA
I strongly believe in providing opportunities for my students, friends, family and colleagues to experience varying learning and living environments.
